5 Easy Home-Made Cleaning Solutions

There are two major advantages of making your own cleaning products.
  • First - they're non-toxic, Eco-friendly, pet friendly and not harmful to your health.

  • Second - cheap.

Recipe #1: Cleaner for Tile Grout
  1. Fill a bucket with a gallon of water, then add a cup of chlorine bleach. Note that chlorine bleach can discolour some types of tile grout, so use it with care. Let the mixture sit on the grout for about 10 minutes before rinsing.

  2. Full-strength vinegar works well on most types of grout. Let the vinegar set for about half an hour before rinsing.

  3. Pour hydrogen peroxide in a container with water in ratio 1:2 and apply on the grout. Wait for about 10 minutes before wiping it off.

  4. Wipe the tiles with a damp cloth and then sprinkle baking soda onto the grout. You can also apply the baking soda as a paste by mixing it with water. Let the baking soda sit undisturbed for a few minutes then scrub it over the tile grout. Instead of water, you can use vinegar or hydrogen peroxide to make the cleaning paste.
Recipe #2: Ink Remover
  1. Use a stack of paper towels to soak as much ink as possible by blotting repeatedly.

  2. Mix a teaspoon of borax, a tablespoon of milk, a teaspoon of lemon juice and a tablespoon of white vinegar in a bowl.

  3. Use a paintbrush to apply the ink remover to the entire stain, then let the solution soak into the fabric for about 5 minutes.

  4. Blot the stain with a sponge, until it is gone.
